Umahi, Wife pay condolence visit to family of late Army Chief

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and his wife, Mrs Rachel Umahi have paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Nigeria Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru at their official residence in Abuja on Sunday.

The Governor who was received by the wife of the late army general, Mrs. Fati Attahiru, described General Attahiru as disciplined and professional, who neither knows tribe nor segregate.

He described the death as shocking and deep but God cannot be questioned at this time.

He assured the wife and immediate family members of a continued relationship and possible assistance.

He said: “By our religion and your religion, we always have to submit to God.

“He was a nice man, very disciplined and professional and does not know tribe.

“It is shocking and deep but no one has to question God.

“I deeply sympathize with you for this loss. We will stand with you at all times.”

The late Chief of Army Staff died on May 21, 2021, while travelling on a Nigerian Air Force Beechcraft King Air 350 on an official visit to the northern state of Kaduna at the age of 54.

Governor Umahi had sent his condolence message immediately after his death.
