According to a recent Quinnipiac University survey, President Joe Biden’s slim advantage over former President Donald Trump is closing.
In spite of Trump’s pending criminal prosecution in New York City, this took place.
According to Fox News, jury selection for Trump’s trial over the 34 counts of falsifying company documents he is accused of began last week, and this week is opening arguments.
To every case, the former president has entered a not guilty plea.
The poll indicates that there will be no winner in the presidential contest, with Biden and Trump tied at 46% of the vote.
With the inclusion of independent presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (16%), Dr. Cornel West (3%) and Jill Stein of the Green Party, Biden and Trump are still equal at 37%.
According to Fox News, Trump has significantly narrowed his deficit after trailing Biden 48% to 45% in a Quinnipiac survey conducted in March.
According to the report, however, Trump was ahead of Biden by one point, 39%–38%, when Kennedy, West, and Stein were included.
While 61% of respondents indicated they disapprove of Biden’s job performance, up from 59% in March, his appallingly low job approval rating remained at 35% support.
With respect to the accusations made against him in his current trial in New York, 46% of respondents indicated they thought the former president had broken the law, while 45% disagreed. But 27% think he did something immoral but not against the law, and 18% think he did nothing wrong.
Furthermore, 21% of respondents stated they would be less inclined to vote for Trump in the event that he was found guilty of the allegations, 62% stated this would not have an impact on their vote, and 15% stated they would be more likely to do so.
Trump has steadfastly defended his innocence and said that the trial is just political, a “political persecution.”
