By Francis Nansak Lafia

The recent criticism of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s donation of ₦15 million to the Asma’u and Hassan Foundation, launched by Hajiya Hussaina Sule, daughter of Governor Abdullahi Sule, has been misinterpreted as a misplacement of priority.

A social media critic, one Comrade Salisu Shuaibu has taken to his Facebook account, claiming that the donation by the lawmaker is a misplaced priority, especially with the prevailing economic hardship.

Recall that Senator Wadada who represents Nasarawa West at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly served as chairman during the launch of the foundation where he also donated N15m to be utilized in supporting the foundation to achieving it core mandate .

It’s amazing that Comrade Shuaibu who claimed he was part of Wadada’s media team during the 2023 election is refusing to acknowledge that this gesture is a testament to Senator Wadada’s philanthropic nature and commitment to supporting the less privileged.

As a leader and one who has always considered the plight of the poor even before becoming a senator, the seasoned lawmaker and philanthropist, Senator Wadada has consistently demonstrated his dedication to giving back to society.

His establishment of the Keffi Polo Ranch, which supports orphans and underprivileged children’s education, is a shining example of his commitment to helping those in need.

This, the Senator often said every proceeds from the annual tournament was used in supporting orphans in various orphanage homes .

The donation to the Asma’u and Hassan Foundation, aimed at supporting orphans and the less privileged, aligns with the lawmaker’s values and philanthropic efforts. As such it is not a misplacement of priority but rather a reaffirmation of his stance on supporting the vulnerable members of society.

Senator Wadada’s track record of initiating empowerment programmes and attracting dividends of democracy to his constituency is commendable, even within his first year in office.

Comrade Shuaibu is only being economical with the truth, if indeed, he was part of Senator Wadada’s campaign efforts as he claimed. Or else, how could he readily forget the various interventions brought by Senator Wadada for the benefits of the people of his constituency?

Senator Wadada’s leadership and commitment to his people are unwavering, and his donation to the foundation is a testament to his character.

The Asma’u and Hassan Foundation’s focus on girl child education is a vital initiative, as emphasized by Governor Sule’s personal experience and the importance of education in building a better society. Senator Wadada’s support for this initiative demonstrates his understanding of the significance of education in transforming lives.

Senator Wadada’s donation should therefore be seen for what it really is, a gesture of philanthropy, not a misplacement of priority.

Indeed, his commitment to supporting the less privileged and his dedication to education are qualities that should be emulated, not criticized.
