Indigent women and widows have been encouraged to remain focused and resilient in the face of daunting economic realities in other to surmount these challenges.
Chairperson, Bars of Iron Initiative Mrs Joyce Badmus gave the charge while on an outreach visit to the Jigwada community in Keffi Nasarawa State, where they extended a hand of fellowship to widows and orphans.
She noted that as the year draws to an end, it is imperative for these women to also participate in the joy of yuletide.
“We understand that the times are hard and many of you do not have supporting spouses anymore coupled with the rising cost of food items in the market, things are a bit harder for you. Do not give up, make the best out of life and you will see yourself succeeding with ease”.
In her remarks, Pat Paloma who is the Executive Director Soul Afrika, encouraged the women to be steadfast and strong.
“We cannot solve all your problems, but our little effort is just to ease your pain momentarily,” she said.
The women in the community were overjoyed while expressing their gratitude to the team. Mrs Nkechi Ifeanyi who said she felt like crying said these kinds of gestures are very rare these days and prayed that the pockets of their benefactors never run dry.
High points of the visit include a medical examination and the distribution of food items, clothes and educational materials to members of the country.
