With Unity, Nigeria Will Be Unstoppable – Ambassador

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Canada, Amb. Adeyinka Asekun, has stressed the need for unity among Nigerians in the Diaspora.

In his independence message, Asekun said lack of unity was one of the factors slowing the progress of the Nigerian diaspora community.

“I’d like to emphasise the need for unity; the need for togetherness; the need for harmony and the need for us to work together.

“I believe one of the things that we are lacking, and which has been hindering our progress, is the inability to unite.

“The minute we come together in unity as a collective force, we will become unstoppable.

“That has been said about the diaspora of other countries that have done so well.

“The minute we become united, also you will begin to see us making bold strides as a group,’’ he said.

The envoy urged Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the device of their fatherland.

“As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our independence, I’d like to ask you all to rededicate yourselves to your lofty ideas and resolve to do more for Nigeria.

“We should not just criticise what is going on back home but to see how we can improve on it,’’ he added.
