Attempts to recall Senator Ibrahim Bomai from the 10th National Assembly, and some federal Lawmakers from Yobe State has pitched a growing number of indigenes against themselves.
Specifically, the Concerned Potiskum Youth Progressive Forum, and Electorates of Yobe South are at dagger-drawn with each other, with the former describing the Electorates of Yobe South as a “fake group.”
Comrade Mohammed Adamu Potiskum, the Chairman of the Concerned Potiskum Youth Progressive Forum, pointed out that a purported recall letter in circulation on social media platforms and recently published by an online news medium requesting the recall of Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai and two other elected representatives in Yobe South, “is not only malicious, mischievous, and politically premeditated but uncalled for.”
He said the efforts were “certainly the handiwork of his political detractors, enemies of Yobe South development, saboteurs of the APC and opposition parties who lost the contest for the Senatorial seat in 2019 and 2023.”
According to him, the recall letter which was addressed to the INEC Chairman sought the sack of Senator Bomai, Yobe South Senatorial District, Hon. Fatima Talba, Nangere /Potiskum Federal constituency and Hon. Ahmed Adamu BBK, Potiskum central constituency,” persons Comrade Mohammed and his group passed a vote of confidence in.
A statement from Concerned Potiskum Youth Progressive Forum stated,”We learned that some of those who signed the petition were shortchanged and signed ignorantly without knowing the content of the letter.
These groups are not comfortable with the political capacity of Bomai and his future political career, which is why they’re desperate to blackmail him at all costs, not minding his benefit to the electorates.”
According to him, “The recent attack on his personal Potiskum residence, we smell politics in it, but we have taken it as destiny.
“The claim on the so-called letter of recall of Senator Bomai and other elected representatives on non-performance is untrue, the allegations are purely baseless and lack substance.
“Senator of Yobe South is incomparable and second to none since 1999.to date! Bomai has become the hero of the Yobe South senatorial district; his performance is physical for anyone to verify.
His projects are spread across the four local governments of Fune, Fika, Nangere, and Potiskum. These range from education, water supply, electricity, health, roads, and ICT, as well as the general empowerment of youths and women”.
He added, “We, therefore, urge our dear constituents to stay calm as our amiable and progressive Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has given us an enabling environment to serve our people; we appreciate his support and cooperation. Senator Bomai and other representatives will not be deterred from serving the electorates; they will continue to deliver effective democratic dividends for the betterment of the people.
“Our elected representatives will also not be demoralized from their resolute commitment and love for the unity, progress, and development of the constituents.
However, the enemies of the progress of Zone ‘B’ will not succeed; we know why they’re doing so. We call on them to join us for the overall success of the zone and Yobe at large”
