Although he believed that President Bola Tinubu has done well in his one year in office, but the principal partner of Friends Chambers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Prince Orji Nwafor-Orizu has listed out areas of improvement to him.
The constitutional lawyer addressed journalists, while assessing Mr President’s performance in his one year in office.
On the areas of improvements, he said: “Tinubu should improve on insecurity and there is hunger in the country, which has been leading to serious agitations. I want him to move his second year with plans to move Nigeria from the third world.
“I personally think that he needs to crown his democratic stance, by listening to calls by Nigerians to release Nnamdi Kanu, as he wasn’t found carrying arms or declaring any war against Nigeria, except his personal view. He and Nigerians must now think of real politi solutions to the existence.of Nigeria.
“It is my view that one of the political solutions for this country to exist, is for him to use constitutional means to scrap the present 36 states structures and replace same with six regions from the existing geopolitical zones. He will also consider reducing the numbers of his political appointees. All elections should be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and state electoral bodies scrapped. All these will cut down the cost of governance.”
Defending that he wasn’t partisan in assessing Tinubu, he said that he had the view that all political parties rigged election, each according to its ability, strategy and environment to protect its votes.
Although, constitutional lawyer and principal partner, Friends Chambers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Prince Orji Nwafor – Orizu has among others given Kudos to President Bola Tinubu in leadership and listenership, but he was quick to list areas of improvements in his government.
On the areas he did well within his one year in office, he said: “Tinubu has given us democracy, in that we din’t talk more of opponents being arrested or militarization of issues in Nigeria; I don’t know of any political prisoners in Nigeria under him. To this extent, I give a pass mark to him as a democratic leader.
“He listens to the yearnings of the people. In almost all issues, he intervenes and his government is always active in proffering solutions. Although his critics may have other suggestions or methods of solving the issues of Nigeria, but the truth is that he brings out his own solution. We may not agree with his government panacea, but he is there for us.
“For me, he is running a humane and urbane administration, that is devoid of religious bigotry. However, we must agree that the economic situation of Nigeria and oil politics were inherited from the past administrations and he is only trying to untwine them to the best of his ability.”
