Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, has proposed that using cutting edge technology is necessary to fight insecurity.
Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, met with Lawal and other governors in Washington, D.C.
According to a statement released by Sulaiman Idris, the governor of Zamfara’s spokesperson, governors from Benue, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, and Niger States were present at the meeting.
The governors’ efforts to combat instability in the region have been recognized by the UN Deputy Secretary-General.
“Your presence here suggests a strong desire on the part of the Northern governors to implement change in their states,” the speaker stated.
Governor Lawal emphasized the critical role that technology can play in improving security and the necessity of a concerted effort to fully utilize technology, which includes utilizing surveillance cameras, biometric identification systems, and artificial intelligence.
“Agriculture has been impossible because of insecurity. To use technology to combat this insurrection, we need help moving from peasant farming to advanced agriculture, he stated.
Additionally, he clarified that his administration had proclaimed a state of emergency in the areas of health and education and that urgent action was required to address these pressing concerns.
