The Yeriman Bakura Specialist Hospital’s rapid remodeling and refurbishment have been approved by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal.
The decision was taken during the state’s 19th Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Gusau, and according to the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, intends to address the state’s growing need for tertiary medical services.
Idris claimed that the hospital has long been plagued by poor medical equipment and decay, which has forced patients to go to neighboring states like Sokoto or Kaduna in order to receive essential medical care.
According to him, the plans for remodeling entail building new buildings, setting up contemporary medical technology, and providing end-user training.
Through these initiatives, the hospital will be transformed into a cutting-edge medical institution that can offer the people of Zamfara State top-notch services.
“The Specialist Hospital’s medical equipment is insufficient and it has been in deterioration for a long time.
Patients have thus had to travel to Kaduna or Sokoto in order to receive kidney dialysis and other necessary medical testing.
“New buildings and medical facilities will be constructed, equipment will be installed, and end-user training will be offered as part of the hospital’s remodeling plan to transform the Specialist Hospital into a cutting-edge, conventional facility that will offer the people of the state high-quality healthcare services.
A number of other important topics were also covered during the council meeting. The state social protection strategy, which attempts to bring together different social protection measures that are in line with the goal of Zamfara State becoming one of Nigeria’s development hubs, was one of the primary subjects of debate.
“A clear set of strategies and policies is outlined in the policy to help direct public and private investments in social protection,” Idris said.
