As political parties prepare for primaries and nomination processes to elect flagbearers for the 2023 general elections, the Senatorial ambition of Chief John Obukohwo Nani appears to be garnering more support and endorsements from party leaders and constituents in Delta central senatorial district.

A few weeks ago, prominent Urhobo Youths Leaders from across the eight local governments in Delta central, visited Chief John Obukohwo Nani, at his Jesse country home in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, and endorsed him for Senate come 2023.

The Urhobo youths leaders, who urged him to accept their endorsement and to also declare for Senate, assured him that the entire Delta central senatorial district have found him worthy to represent the district at the Senate.

Some days later, Chief John Obukohwo Nani, who is presently the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, accepted the endorsement and expressed his willingness to represent the people of Delta central at the Senate in 2023.

Nani, a former member of Delta State House of Assembly, and represented Ethiope West Constituency, was said to have assured his teeming supporters across Delta central of his readiness to be the next Delta Central Senator.

The immediate past Commissioner for Environment, gave the assurance to his kinsmen, Idjerhe traditional chiefs, who paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Jesse, Delta State.
Nani, being an experienced and grassroots politician, promised to undertake further consultations to the Urhobo traditional rulers and political stakeholders to seek their prayers and support.

He said “My political life is dynamic, though I have heeded the call of the Urhobo Youth Leaders, I will have to consult with my traditional rulers, and political leaders, and get their prayers; my kingdom chiefs were here on a visit and they asked me if I will be contesting since calls are coming in for me to contest for that position, and I have told them I will be contesting for the Senate under Delta Central. I am qualified for any position, but since we are calling for equity, and we are hoping that Delta Central will produce the next governor, the Senate, for now, is ideal for me.”
“Those who called on me to contest for that position know my ability to deliver; the teeming calls from Deltans both young and old to run will not be in vain. So I have decided to run for the Senate” he added.

However, a notable leader and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Delta Central, who spoke to New National Star in confidence on Wednesday, said, Chief Barr John Obukohwo Nani, is the next Senator to represent Delta central, adding that he ( Nani) Senatorial ambition is already an accomplished project being massively supported by the people in Delta central.

He continued that considering Nani’s track records and performance as a former lawmaker and Commissioner, he has proven to be tested and trusted, therefore, it has become imperative to elevate him to the Senate for the best interests of Urhobo nation and Delta central.

” Chief John Obukohwo Nani is a true party leader who has shown undoubted loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the party, PDP, our great leaders, and the Governor of Delta State, Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. He’s a detribalized and responsible philanthropist, a great humanitarian”.
