Three people are reportedly in the running to take Finidi George’s place as the Super Eagles’ head coach.
After Finidi resigned from the position last weekend, the Nigeria Football Federation, or NFF, is searching for a replacement.
With games in the upcoming window in September, the Super Eagles don’t have much time to make that selection.
The NFF is reportedly considering three coaches to take over as head coach, according to Soccernet.
The first is Antonio Conceicao, who gained recognition for his tactical acumen and ability to develop players during his time as a coach at CFR Cluj in Romania and in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia.
After being let go by Cameroon in 2022, he is keen to get back into coaching.
Samson Siasia might be a contentious selection. He does, however, take great pride in his coaching background, especially in young leagues.
He guided Nigeria’s U-20 and U-23 squads to podium results in a variety of competitions, including the Olympics.
August is when his FIFA match-fixing ban is supposed to end. His name is therefore being floated for the Eagles position.
Two times before, Siasia was the senior team’s manager.
Salisu Yusuf, who has won NPFL titles with Kano Pillars, is the last name on the list.
Yusuf’s background as the Super Eagles’ assistant coach and head coach of the B team demonstrates his grasp of Nigerian football and player development, even in light of the controversy surrounding a monetary present.
The NFF has since reinstated Yusuf, demonstrating their faith in his talents.
