Emir of Gwandu urges journalists to project Nigeria’s good image globally

Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu-Bashar, Emir of Gwandu, has appealed to Journalists to always project the good image of Nigeria globally.

He made the plea when some members of the press paid homage on him at Abdullahi Fadio palace in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Iliyasu-Bashar, who is also the Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, observed that: “As Nigerians, we do not have any other country than Nigeria, therefore, we must do everything to promote and project its image.

“As Journalists, use your profession to sell and potray your country in good light globally, by so doing you are discharging your professional responsibility as patriotic Nigerians.”

The monarch charged the media to resist all forms of pressure from outside meant to tarnish the image of their motherland.

He, however, appreciated the efforts of Journalists in promoting peace, unity and national cohesion among Nigerians which according to him, pave way for growth and development
