Ibiasoegbe Community To Host Igbo World Festival Of Arts And Culture December

The Ibiasoegbe-Ofeahia community in Oru-West local council of Imo State in collaboration with Council of Igbo States in Americas (CISA), is set to host the 2026 edition of Igbo World Festival of Arts and Culture. It will be a landmark gathering celebrating the heritage, creativity and enduring spirit of the Igbo people.

The festival is scheduled to be held at Agumiri Central School Field, Ibiasoegbe, Oru West LGA, Imo State, on 28 and 29 December 2026. It will bring together Igbo sons and daughters from all Igbo states and across the diaspora, along with friends of the culture from around the world.

According to the statement signed by Festival Director, Mr Stanley Aguzie, the two-day festival would open with the formal welcoming of guests, followed by the resonant sound of ogene, the traditional Igbo metal gong that has long announced royalty, ceremony and celebration.

The day continues with a press conference and a brief lecture on the history, philosophy and living relevance of Igbo culture.

Aguzie said the second day of the festival which will be the grand finale would be a full day of spectacle, featuring among other things; vibrant cultural displays from Igbo communities and cultural groups, live music from traditional to contemporary, energetic dance performances, including masquerades and showpiece troupes.

Aguzie further disclosed that the grand finale would also feature display of authentic Igbo attire, food, art and craft associated with Igbo culture and tradition.

The festival director described the two-day event as “more than a festival, adding that the festival is a homecoming, held at the end-of-year season when Igbo families and friends traditionally return home”.

He stated that attendees to the festival will experience the richness of Igbo tradition in its birthplace, connect with kinsmen from near and far, and help pass this heritage on to the next generation.
