Mzansi Youth choir, Nobuntu are guests on CNN African Voices

Two musical groups, South Africa’s Mzansi Youth choir and Nobuntu, Zimbabwe’s Acapella, are guests on this weekend’s edition of CNN African Voices Playmakers sponsored by telecommunications operator, Globacom.

The programme which profiles change agents making waves in different fields on the continent comes up at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday on CNN on DSTV Channel 401. The repeat editions are broadcast on Sunday at 4.30 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. and on Monday at 4.00 a.m. and a 15-minute, two-part editions on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.45 p.m.

Founded in 2003, the Mzansi Youth Choir is a performance choir group that represents the best of Sowetan excellence. It was established with the aim of affording underprivileged teenagers and young adults the opportunity to proficiently perform locally and abroad.

Speaking to African Voices about its mission, the group said, “From humble beginnings in Soweto, we began our journey and have captured the hearts of South Africans one performance at a time”.

The second guest, Nobuntu, is a female acapella quartet from Zimbabwe that draws international acclaim for its breathtaking performances of traditional Zimbabwean songs, afro jazz and gospel.

The South African Mzansi Youth choir as well as the Nobuntu, Zimbabwe’s Acapella Group, will entertain viewers as they recall their foray into the musical arena in their respective countries
