The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has outlined key conditions for relocating the Super Eagles’ home matches from Uyo to Lagos, with the readiness of the renovated Teslim Balogun Stadium central to the decision.
The development follows reports that Lagos is being considered to host Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixtures.
A senior NFF official, who spoke anonymously, said the federation was not rushing to change the team’s home venue, warning that a sudden relocation could affect the players’ performance.
“Lagos is under consideration, but Uyo remains the venue for our games,” the official said.
The official added that the NFF would consult the players before making a final decision. The federation is also considering friendly matches at Teslim Balogun Stadium to assess its facilities and gauge supporters’ response.
However, the stadium is not yet considered ready for international matches, with NFF inspectors expected to evaluate the facility after the Lagos State Government completes the renovation.
With less than a month before the proposed fixtures, concerns remain over the time available for inspection and approval.
The first leg is tentatively scheduled for November 11 in Uyo, with the return leg proposed for November 15 in Zanzibar, subject to CAF confirmation.
