The North West APC has received a warning from the North Central All Progressive Congress, APC, Forum not to support the beleaguered National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, with a vote of confidence.
The forum further noted that Ganduje has already been the target of multiple votes of no confidence from his Kano ward, in addition to other protests, lawsuits, and other forms of agitation; as a result, his continued tenure in that position will only cause the APC to regress and fragment the party.
After the APC North West stakeholders’ meeting last Sunday in Kaduna, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the forum’s chairman, told reporters in Jos, the capital of the Plateau State, that the stakeholders’ praise for the party’s leadership was somewhat insensitive because of the obvious crisis rocking it.
Zazzaga, who served on the Presidential Campaign Council during the previous election, stated that Ganduje should step down since he already has a lot of problems and it would be best for the party if he left without hurting it or putting it in danger of legal trouble.
The Chairman clarified that since their cooperation with the North West APC has been positive, they shouldn’t let things fall apart, particularly in light of Ganduje’s problem.
Furthermore, he emphasized that, in accordance with party arrangements, Ganduje is representing the North Central region in his capacity as APC National Chairman, and that Ganduje, who is from the North West, is not expected to succeed Abdullahi Adamu, the former National Chairman who is also from Nassarawa/North Central.
He claims that in order to retake the seat, the North Central region has been involved in a number of calculated operations, and they won’t let up until their goal is accomplished.
Because Ganduje is from North West, we are warning the North West APC not to support him in any way. In addition to the fact that Ganduje’s dilemma has the potential to split the party, we are urging our North West counterparts to stand with us in our efforts to recapture the seat he currently holds.
“Come to think of it, the North West already has good positions, like the Deputy Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the APC National Chairmanship, which is held by Ganduje from the North West despite the party arrangement being for the North Central.
“In the spirit of justice and equity, a member of the North Central region ought to hold the position of National Chairmanship, as we are also affiliated with the ruling party and were instrumental in President Bola Tinubu’s ascent to power in the previous election, in addition to the party’s other commendable performances in various elective roles.
One noteworthy aspect of the North Central region’s outstanding performance is the APC’s victory in five of the region’s six states, including Benue, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, and Kwara. Therefore, we are deserving of the party’s leadership position, and we will oppose any region that seeks to oust us from it.
“Since our region is also a crucial stakeholder in the APC, we cannot afford to fold our hands and let the position or other benefit that is for the North Central region to be transferred to another region, highjacked, or denied us,” he stated.
Zazzaga urged President Tinubu to step in and restore the North Central region’s privileges.
In addition, he urged everyone in North Central to work with the forum to support Ganduje’s removal so that a legitimate representative from the area may take Ganduje’s place, regardless of their political, professional, ethnoreligious, or other afflictions.
Additionally, he disclosed that the North Central APC Forum’s lawsuit against Ganduje is scheduled for hearing on May 30. As a result, all the good people in the area and interested parties are urged to assist the forum in any way they can, particularly through prayer, in order to ensure the forum’s success.
