It has been announced that veteran broadcaster Kabiru Usman Fagge is deceased.
The renowned broadcaster passed away in the US on Friday, and President Tinubu conveyed his condolences.
According to a statement issued by presidential media adviser Ajuri Ngelale, “Fagge, aged 77, was an enduring name across the Hausa-speaking world for his long career with the Hausa service of the Voice of America, spanning 25 years.”
President Tinubu praised the deceased’s contributions to the development of the country, highlighting in particular his passion for education and raising public awareness of it through the well-known weekly education program he hosted.
“Even in his early years as a freelance journalist while teaching, he had a strong ambition to use journalism to better society. We appreciate his contributions in his chosen field and his excellent representation of Nigeria on a worldwide scale.
In addition, the President expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family, the government, the people of Kano State, and the Nigerian media community for their loss.
